In 16 to 60, I wanted to explore the journey of one life through the metaphor of driving. As my husband, Dennis, was approaching his 60th birthday, I reflected on his life, our life together, and a song I wrote for his 50th. That one never reached beyond the walls of our house in Seattle at the time, and was too specific for it to make sense for anyone else. We sometimes double back. We sometimes take a side road to return to our original path or even explore something new.
