  1. Happiest

From the recording Where I Belong

In cart Not available Out of stock

This was originally written as an apology after a late night phone fight. I was stationed at Pearl Harbor, and my partner, Dennis, was in Seattle. Several years later when I wanted to record the first three songs on this EP, I decided to rewrite the lyrics for this one to make it more intimate, loving, and happy.

Lyrics

“The Happiest”
Anton du Preez

All my days I spent alone and so I prayed
That I would find someone to spend the rest of time
And all those lonely nights I cried myself to sleep
Hoping for someone to bring me peace
Wondering everyday just how I'd make it through
Hoping, praying, that I'd find someone like you
Before the light, I've heard, the night is darkest and may hurt
And everything seems harder than before
But then you came, you came to me

Then I saw you
And you saw me
And together our hearts beat wildly and free
From the moment you walked into my life
I was the happiest man in all the world

Caressing you fingertips, I feel
My aching heart at last has something real
Then you gently hold my face and kiss me, dear
Overflowing with a love so sweet and pure
And although we may depart
I'll still have you in my heart
We may travel far and wide
But I'll still have you by my side
When loneliness gets though
I think of how much I'm in love
And know that you are thinking of me too
'Cause you love me, and I love you

Then you held me
And I held you
And together we shared a love so freely and true
From the moment you walked into my life
I was the happiest man in all the world

'Cause I love you
And you love me
And together we will live happily
From the moment you walked into my life
I was the happiest man in all the world
